Acts 13:2-3
One day as these men were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them." So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.

Everybody knows the stress of a big decision that has to be made. The emotions are real and so are the consequences. Sometimes there are real costs, sometimes people won’t be happy and if it were easy, the decision would not be a “big decision.” The good news is the LORD does not shrink away from tough decisions and will always supply what we need to reach righteous outcomes.

John 10:27-28  "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me."

I'm going to tell you something you already know about relationships.  The brutal truth is the person who does not learn to listen will always struggle relating to people and will in some way remain stunted in their own personal growth.  Imagine trying to have a relationship with someone who talks all the time, doesn't ask any questions and never listens to anything you have to say.  What’s true with people is also true as we relate to God.  The person who fails to listen to God will remain stunted in their own spiritual growth.

How would you like to remembered when people think back upon your life? We are about to do something very special. We are going to take communion together. Communion or the Lord’s Supper has been celebrated throughout the centuries and all over the world since that first night Jesus broke bread and shared the cup. Today we join the world-wide Christian community as we remember Jesus’ death, His coming back to life and His return in the future. To take communion with the right attitude is a soul-stirring experience!

If you are like me, you probably want to grow your prayer life. You would also like to see more answers to prayer. If this is the case in your life, then we all must learn how to better persevere in prayer. Persevering in prayer must have been very important to Jesus because He taught more about persevering in prayer and its benefits than any other topic related to prayer!

Jesus gave a model on how to pray, some prayer blockers like unforgiveness, but then He really got into persevering in prayer. My personal impression is prayer is less style or "glam" and more determination. Its more gritty and pretty. No style points, just guts and grit. In our time today, I want to go through these passages and show at least 4 benefits of persevering in prayer. Then I want us to see how Jesus modeled it for us to see and with His help, we can begin practicing it this week.
